Portalsinteractive video game and mixed media installation
2023 Through walls, ceilings and floor beds, wires run connecting every socket in every corner of this building, with electricity through its copper core. It physically connects large spaces and many devices while delivering electricity. This project starts with the mundane extension cords to delve into the spaces travelled by electricity. Playing with scale, this installation includes expanded prints of the insides of an extension cord and is accompanied with a video game that recreates the extension plug to a spatial room. The game lets viewers walk through around one extension plug and teleport into another, as if you are teleporting through different rooms of a building though its plugs and sockets as if they are portals. In this version, installed inside a library, the prints of extension plugs are juxtaposed with books which also acts like portals to different worlds. Interactive game can be downloaded here |
