Portalsinteractive video game and mixed media installation
2023 Through walls, ceilings and floor, wires run connecting every socket in every corner of buildings, transporting electricity through its copper core. This project starts with the mundane extension cord to consider the hidden pathways electricity travels as they link different rooms and devices. Playing with scale, this installation displays enlarge prints of the interior of extension cord alongside a video game that reimagines them as an immersive spatial environment. Within the game, viewers navigate through different extension cords, moving from one to another as if travelling through a building via teleportation portals of sockets and outlets. Installed inside a library, the prints of extension plugs are juxtaposed with books which also acts like portals to different worlds, drawing a parallel between physical and imaginative forms of connection.
