Waterloo Centre, a mixed-used building, is filled with residents, employee who work at its shops and offices, and people who simply come for lunch at the coffee shop. Some of these people might even pass through the building on a fixed schedule. This artwork is based on the act of people watching – something humans practice from birth as they learn how to communicate with others, but which is often interpreted as awkward or creepy. I conducted observations in different locations of Waterloo Centre, recording seemingly mundane behaviours such as walking and sitting. The result data installed directly at the observation location, allowing the audience to place themselves as both observer and observed.

The exhibition of this work is part of NOISE Mentorship Programme 2017, curated by OH Open house and mentored by Tan Pei Ling
